The Minnesota Genealogical Society welcomes any person with an interest in genealogy or local history! Joining a genealogical society is one of the best ways to propel your research forward. MGS is a friendly place to meet and learn from people who share your interest in genealogy.

The MGS membership year runs for one year from the date of joining MGS. Membership dues may be prepaid for up to two years. MGS does not use membership cards. Membership dues are non-refundable.

Membership Categories

• Individual – One person receives all benefits listed above for one year ($45.00 US per year).

• Family – two persons residing at the same address receive all benefits listed above, except that one copy of the journal is shared by both persons ($65.00 US per year).

• Youth – one person under the age of 26 receives all benefits listed above ($20.00 US per year).

Other Options

• Publication Subscription – the organization receives one copy of the quarterly MGS journal. No other benefits ($25.00 US per year).  Note: this option is not available online. Please print and complete the mail-in form and mail it, along with your check, to the address found on the form.

To join online and get instant access to MGS benefits, click the Join Online menu option near the upper left side of your screen. This is for NEW members only.

To renew your membership, you will receive a renew email that will take you to the renewal page. You can also log into the MGS site and a small pop up in the lower right corner will alert you if you need to renew. You can then click on that link to be taken to the renewal page.

A mail-in form is also available.  Print and complete the form, then mail it, along with your check, to the address on the form. A video explaining how to fill out the form is at the bottom of this page.
