NEED SOME HELP WITH YOUR RESEARCH?The Minnesota Genealogical Society (MGS) Research Committee is made up of volunteers willing to help you with your genealogy questions! Contact the Research Committee at research@mngs.org for an estimate. Please have specific questions for us, and include family names, locations in Minnesota, dates, and where/when the person was born. Remember to include your contact information. GENEALOGY RESEARCHVolunteers perform genealogy research at $30 per hour. There is a one-hour minimum. All fees support the library. Please consult with the Research Committee for an estimate prior to making payment. DOCUMENT RETRIEVALDue to U.S. copyright laws, we are unable to copy entire books without approval from publisher/author. If you are looking for photocopies of pages from books held in our library, we can accommodate under our new document retrieval services. The minimum rate is $15 for four pages scanned and emailed. For the minimum fee, we will send an index and/or table of contents, if available, to determine which pages you want to have copied. Please contact the Research Committee for specifics prior to making payment. | ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONWe do not interpret DNA test results nor do we assist adoptees with searching for biological family. We can also research outside the Hoffman Research Library (for example, at the Minnesota Historical Society) and we have access to extensive online sources. Many people from other states and foreign countries with family connections in Minnesota have been helped successfully in the past. Although the focus of our collection is on Minnesota, we have research materials for other states and countries. What is available in our online catalog may surprise you.
